Other Ministries/Committees

St. Margaret's is blessed with devoted and caring parishioners who volunteer their time and talents. To learn how you can become involved in these ministries, please call the parish office at 416-485-7781 or introduce yourself/family to the pastor and register.

Here are our ministries/committees:

  • Volunteer Screening Committee

Members are required to review and process applications of new volunteers; to maintain records and to ensure information is current and in compliance with AODA and the criteria and protocols established by the Archdiocese. Receives training via workshops.

  • Finance Council Committee

The Parish Finance council is a consultative body of lay persons established to advise the Pastor in matters pertaining to the financial affairs of the parish. Within the Archdiocese of Toronto, Parish Finance Councils were mandated for all parishes by the “Decree” dated March 1986. The Pastor is ex-officio Chair of the Parish Finance Council.

  • Pastoral Council 

A Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body that works with the Pastor regarding all matters pertaining to the pastoral life of the parish. The Pastoral Council involves priests and people in common study whose purpose will be to:

    1. develope guidelines and processes for ongoing consultation and planning with other councils, committees, and lay movements within the parish
    2. assist the pastor, the Parish Pastoral Planning Committee, and parishioners, to implement the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan
    3. focus especially on Core Direction One of the Archdioces Pastoral Plan
    • Hospitality Committee - to create a feeling of belonging and active participation through social activities and events
    • Pastoral Planning Committee - to enhance and develop the spiritual life of our parish family
    • Liturgy Committee - liaison for ministries involved in the preparation and celebration of the liturgy.
    • Social Justice Committee - to establish and affirm relations between St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, the Archdiocese of Toronto, and the local civic community at its different levels of government: municipal, provincial, federal
  • Collection Counter

Teams of three people are responsible for the counting and banking of all the collections received at the Weekend Masses and other sources of revenue.

  • ShareLife Committee

ShareLife committee are volunteer group of parishioners and clergy that work on behalf of the parish to assist the pastor in delivering a positive and effective ShareLife campaign. Reporting to the pastor, they meet once a year or when necessary to ensure the campaign materials are used effectively. They arrenge guest speakers  from various agencies to speak about the good work and many charities supported by ShareLife.
